Kajaanin ammattikorkeakoulun hallinnoiman ja pääosin Karelian ENPI CBC -ohjelman rahoittaman White Road -hankkeen tavoitteena oli lisätä Suomen ja Venäjän puolella sijaitsevien matkailuyritysten välistä yhteistyötä. White Road -hankkeen konkreettiset toimenpiteet koostuivat matkailutuotteiden, yhteismarkkinoinnin ja matkailualan avainhenkilöiden osaamisen kehittämisestä. Hankkeen venäläisiä partnereita olivat Karjalan resurssikeskus Petroskoista ja kuusi Karjalan tasavallan pohjoisosan piiriä (Kostamuksha, Louhi, Segezha, Kem, Byelomorsk, Kalevala). Hankkeen partnerina oli myös Voigt Travel B.V. matkatoimisto Alankomaista. Hankkeen toteutusaika oli 30.10.2012 – 31.12.2014.
White Road -hankkeen toimenpiteet kohdistuivat Suomessa erityisesti Kuusamon, Suomussalmen, Kuhmon ja Sotkamon alueille. Tämän raportin tavoitteena on esitellä hankkeen venäläisille partnereille ja laajemminkin venäläisille matkailutoimijoille kyseisiä kuntia ja niiden matkailutarjontaa. Julkaisun luvussa neljä on listattu internet-osoitteita, joista saa tarvittaessa lisätietoa kuntien matkailutarjonnasta. Samassa yhteydessä on kerrottu sähköpostiosoite, johon voi lähettää aloitteita matkailuyhteistyön kehittämiseksi. Toivomme, että raportti omalta osaltaan tarjoaa materiaalia matkailuyritysten väliselle vuoropuhelulle yli rajan.
Raportin laadintaan ovat osallistuneet Kajaanin ammattikorkeakoulusta matkailututkija Jari Järviluoma, tutkimusapulainen Salla Voutilainen ja White Road -hankkeen projektipäällikkö Petri Muje.
