Centers for Interethnic Cooperation
Centre’s tasks are:
- To promote adaptation of migrants in social environment of the Republic of Karelia
- To render consulting services of informative, legal, psychological, social and cultural nature
- To train population, especially teachers of general education institutions for work with migrants on a voluntary basis
- To work with the youth as potential migrants leaving the Republic for a period of education
Every center consists of 3 departments:
- Department of social support
- Department of legal support
- Department of psychological support
Department of social support promotes interaction of migrants with institutions of health care, social protection and renders social assistance to migrants, including the issues of medical aid and sometimes accommodation
Department of legal support promotes interaction of migrants with law enforcement and judicial authorities, consults foreign citizens on registration issues, preparation of authorization to stay and work, providing protection of their rights and interests, working legislation about the legal position of foreign citizens.
Employees of the department of psychological support give psychological consultations to migrants and help them to adapt to the new conditions of life.
Primary, the centers work with former citizens of the USSR who desire to become citizens of the Russian Federation, labour migrants, arriving in the Republic of Karelia, who want to return to their historical homeland, with the youth, students as well as with teachers of general educational institutions.
